Since the 2022 midterm elections, more than eight million youth have become newly eligible to cast their first vote on November 5, 2024. These young people have grown up through unique challenges: coming of age during a global pandemic, navigating the impacts of AI and misinformation, and entering a political landscape too often defined by polarization. America in One Room: The Youth Vote will highlight important election issues and the impact of deliberation among a truly representative gathering of first-time voters.

The first-ever America in One Room, held in Dallas in 2019 for a scientifically representative sample of 523 adult registered voters, showed the project’s incredible promise and impact. After the group’s deliberations on immigration, health care, the economy, the environment, and foreign policy, the most polarizing proposals, whether from the left or the right, generally lost support, and several more centrist proposals moved to the foreground. Among participants, the percentage saying the system of American democracy was “working well” doubled from 30 percent to 60 percent.

Help us make sure that we assemble the most diverse learning community of young people for America in One Room: The Youth Vote. Sponsor a student for $2,500 to ensure we have participants from every state and demographic represented. All donors will receive a copy of the official America in One Room: The Youth Vote Impact Report. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, contact us at support@closeup.org.
