Gaining Insights from Experts
Close Up programs include seminars that allow students to gain understanding and engage with policy, media, and advocacy experts, that include a range of different perspectives, to learn about the issues impacting our democracy. These seminars provide opportunities for students to provide opportunities for students to become more informed on issues they care about most as they develop and their own points of view.

Connecting with Congress & Elected Officials
Close Up is a non-partisan organization and has longstanding bi-partisan support from the Congress and elected officials from across the country. As students gain a better understanding of issues, Close Up programs provide opportunities for student to meet with Members of Congress, elected officials, and community stakeholders to share insights on the issues impacting their lives.
Each year, we facilitate more than 1,000 meetings between students and their Members of Congress, and staff, during Close Up’s Washington, DC-based programs. Likewise, our virtual and local programs provide opportunities for students to engage with local and state elected officials.
As a testament to our impact, we are also pleased to share that there are 14 Members of Congress who are Close Up alumni.
