Become a Volunteer Facilitator for From Classrooms to Careers: How AI is Shaping Our Pat

You can help students hold meaningful discussions on the future of AI.

Are you interested in working alongside Close Up instructional staff to facilitate conversations around AI with a diverse group of high school students? We’re looking for volunteers to serve as trained facilitators during From Classrooms to Careers: How AI is Shaping Our Paths, a NextGen Roundtable deliberation hosted by Close Up, the National Association of Independent Schools, and the Stanford University Deliberative Democracy Lab. You’ll work with small groups of students during two deliberations: one on AI & Education and the other on AI & the Workforce.

This program will take place in Houston from December 3-6, 2025. As a volunteer, you’ll receive a $250 stipend for participating.

 We’re looking for volunteers who:

  • Are available for half a day of training on Wednesday, December 3, from 1-4pm CST.
  • Are available Friday, December 5, from 8:30am-12:00pm CST for the deliberations.
  • Can provide their own transportation to and from the program location near downtown Houston.
  • Are at least 21 years old.
  • Are comfortable facilitating small-group discussions.
  • Can remain neutral and withhold their own opinions while creating a good atmosphere for discussion.
  • Have excellent skills in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
  • Complete and pass a background check.

You do not need to have prior knowledge of the discussion topics; we’ll provide materials and training. If you’re interested, please fill out the form below and we will be in touch!
