On July 19, 2025, Close Up and the Stanford University Deliberative Democracy Lab (DDL), in collaboration with a leading technology company, are inviting households nationwide to join us for an exciting day of deliberation. NextGen Roundtable: Perceptions of AI will gather teens, their parents, and educators from across the United States in an online Deliberative Poll® to learn more about, and express their opinions on, artificial intelligence and the use of AI tools in our world.
Close Up is proud to provide an opportunity to showcase youth voices and gain insights about an emerging technology that will change education as we know it. To show our appreciation for your time, all participants will receive an honorarium (of $300 per household or $150 per educator) for completing this half-day of deliberation!
Learn from other perspectives and find a space to express your own.
During this half-day virtual event (10am-3pm PT/1-6pm ET), participants will engage in moderated, small-group discussions and Q&A sessions with expert panels about AI, its role in our lives, and the use of AI-assisted educational tools. We’re inviting teens aged 14-18, their parents/guardians, and educators to participate together; teens will deliberate with teens while adults engage in separate deliberations with other adults.
You do not need to be an expert on AI to take part, just someone who is eager to learn, to discuss important issues with others, and to gain exposure to a wide range of views. We’ll be documenting participants’ views in aggregate through pre- and post-program surveys and sharing those opinions with the public—to make sure people like you have a voice in how AI technology continues to reshape our world.
