Close Up Foundation is sponsoring a weekly “Issues I Care About” video contest for high school and middle school students. With the election in ahead in November, we want to highlight the issues most important to young people, so we what to hear from to you! Create a short video and tell us what’s on your mind, why it’s important, and what solutions you recommend to address it.



Videos must be no longer than 3 minutes. The Close Up “Issues I Care About” video contest will launch on April 27, 2020 and winners will be selected weekly through June 29,, 2020. Register and submit videos by 5:00 pm/EST on Thursday of each week, and winners will be announced and featured on the Close Up website and social media on the following Monday.

Videos may be created to:

  • Inform others about an important current issue;
  • Share your story and personal connections to explain why an issue topic is important; and
  • Highlight support for a specific policy recommendation, legislation, or organization working to address the issue.

Showcase your creativity and feel free to incorporate images, slideshows or other visual media found in the public domain, which includes news clips, images of newspapers and online news sources, but cannot feature artistic or commercial work (i.e., songs or art not in the public domain; brand images). Winning videos will be selected based on creativity, content, and overall quality. All submissions must be the original work.

Submissions will not be accepted or eligible if they include any content that contains or appears to contain any of the following:

  • Profane, obscene, gratuitous violence, nudity, or inappropriate material;
  • Endorses, encourages, glorifies, or condones drug use, alcohol abuse or any other illegal activity;
  • Inappropriate language;
  • Plagiarism;
  • Any expressed or implied commercial endorsement;
  • Any derogatory characterization of any person or group based on age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, marital status, disability, citizenship, physical appearance, or other unethical or unlawful factors;
  • Copyright or infringement of intellectual property rights.



To submit a video, you must register and upload videos online. Participants under the age of 18 years of age must have their parent or legal guardian consent.
