EARN COLLEGE CREDIT

Take part in Washington’s oldest and most respected citizen leadership program and earn college credit, too! High school students who participate in Close Up’s D.C. programs, have the opportunity to earn college credit from American University (AU). AU consistently ranks among the nation’s great universities and is known for turning “ideas into action and action into service”. The AU college credit courses are designed to enhance the high school Close Up program by allowing students to pursue areas of interest from a variety of disciplines, including government, international studies, business, communication, and the sciences. The courses are designed by AU faculty, and in them, students will explore relevant and engaging topics in an innovative, encouraging, and personalized learning environment.

In order to register in the AU College Credit option, you must first enroll in a Close Up program, and then you can register for your college credit course with AU within 10 days of the start of your program. After registering with AU, you will receive an email with your syllabus, other course requirements and directions on how to submit your assignments. All payments for your course will be made directly to AU and transcripts will be obtained through AU. AU credit is transferable to most accredited colleges and universities.
