FOUNDING OF A NATION

See five of the East Coast’s most historic sites on Close Up’s exclusive Founding of a Nation Program! This program – offered only once a year – combines some of our most popular day-trip visits and attractions into one exciting experience for middle school students and teachers. On their jam-packed, fun-filled journey through Williamsburg, Mt. Vernon, Alexandria, Gettysburg, and Philadelphia, students will learn more about some of the most important people and events of American history.

Like our other middle school programs, Close Up’s Founding of a Nation program is designed with middle school curriculum in mind. Each program component is led by Close Up’s highly-trained program instructors and helps to prepare students for their upcoming history and government classes. Students also take part in daily workshops to discuss what they learned that day and to prepare for what they will experience the following day. Other highlights of this trip include small-group interactions with Williamsburg’s Historical Interpreters, the Gettysburg Museum and Cyclorama, a visit to the National Constitution Center, and running the “Rocky steps” at the Philadelphia Museum of Art!

Don’t miss out on this chance to walk through American history!

"It was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for my son and will make a lasting impression in his life. He just kept saying how awesome and surreal it was to be in the exact same place that the founders had actually walked, worked and lived. It was incredible to hear the excitement in his voice."
