Experience history as it happens! During our 6-day/5-night Election Week program, students will meet new friends from across the country and experience the excitement of a Presidential and Congressional election in downtown Washington, DC!

As the upcoming election promises to shape politics and policy for the next several years, students will take part in activities, seminars, and visits to Washington’s most historic sites to help them understand what roles they, as citizens, can play in our democracy. By integrating election-themed activities and special events into this program students are not only engaged in learning about the electoral process and the importance of becoming educated about the issues, but also in learning about how to get involved when they return home.

Like our flagship program, our Election Week program provides students with the opportunity to get face-to-face with their Congressional delegation on Capitol Hill and with Washington insiders who play a key role in the American political system. Additionally, students will participate in an exclusive elections issues seminar with a prominent member of the media, as well as a ‘hot topic’ issues debate on election eve with two policy experts on key issues of this election cycle. During our simulated presidential activity students will travel from the primaries to national conventions to the general election for an in-depth examination of how we elect a president. Students will focus on the influence of individuals, lobbyists, and media – topped off with an exciting visit to the Newseum - an interactive museum of news– students will also visit one of the embassies in D.C. and enjoy a special dinner and event on election night as the results of the election come in!
