The U.S. Congress is a great supporter of Close Up. Students who complete our program are awarded a Certificate of Achievement signed by Congressional leaders of the House of Representatives and Senate. Currently, over 100 members of Congress serve on our Advisory Board.

Every year, we arrange over 1,200 meeting for students and teachers with their Congressional Offices during our program’s Capitol Hill Day. Each meeting gives students the opportunity to interact with elected officials and their staffs about the key issues facing the U.S. Students and teachers also experience their government in action first-hand by attending committee hearings and legislative sessions.

Each year since 1973, Congress has appropriated money to support the Close Up Fellowship Program. In a typical year, the Close Up Fellowship Program enables more than 1,500 economically disadvantaged students and their teachers to attend Close Up's renowned programs. To apply, click here.
