About the Close Up TV Staff

Joe Geraghty, Senior Producer of Close Up at the Newseum and Department Director for the Close Up Foundation’s television and documentary unit.
Mr. Geraghty has been the producer of Close Up’s weekly public affair program on C-SPAN since 1986.He has also produced, directed, and written classroom documentaries since 1991, including award winning series on the Bill of Rights and a series called Ordinary Americans, which looks at historical events through the eyes of everyday people. His most prestigious awards were for his film, Profiles of Freedom: A Living Bill of Rights which won an American Bar Association’s Silver Gavel Award and Fight for Freedom, a documentary on the role of African American Civil War soldiers which won the New York Festival’s Grand Award for ‘Best Information Documentary’.

Mr. Geraghty was a religious studies major at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York. He now resides in Woodbridge, Virginia with his wife, Shannon, and their three children.

   

T.Catrina Huynh-Weiss, Associate Producer, Television and Documentary
Catrina joined the Close Up Television and Documentary Department with several years' experience as a freelance producer and reporter. Her credits include: Scott Foresman Science and Education Videos, produces for Discovery Communication's The Learning Channel (TLC) and Scott Foresman publishing; Secret Mission Over Dien Bien Phu, documentary film produces for Discovery Communications, Inc.; "Independence Day," Nguoi-Viet2; and "The Way to My Heart is Through My Stomach, " Campus Progress, Center for American Progress.
Catrina holds a B.A. in environmental science with a focus on marine ecology and policy and media studies from Wellesley College. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honors society and received an English honors award from Montgomery College.
