Michael Boateng

Michael Boateng joined Close Up in 2015 as a Program Instructor and was quickly promoted to the Teacher Program Department. In addition to Teacher Programs, he plays a vital role in Close Up’s partnership programs (i.e. Bank of America, Department of Interior, ACLU).  Michael holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a Master’s in Diplomacy from Brigham Young University-Hawaii and Norwich University, respectively. Outside of Close Up, Michael is trained and certified as a field director in political campaigns with extensive experience in opposition research, and he currently serves as a chief election ffficer for the County of Fairfax, Virginia.

Michael credits his entrance into politics to late Congressman Eni Faleomavaega (American Samoa), with whom he interned.  Michael has spent close to two decades in politics working at the office of the Speaker – New York State Assembly, the Hawaii State Legislature, on presidential, congressional and state political campaigns, and for government relations firms.
