WASHINGTON STUDENT PROGRAMS: These challenging programs give students an understanding of why they should become informed and engaged citizens. Using the nation's capital as a living classroom, student experience democracy firsthand and live and learn among peers from all 50 states. Many alums credit this experience with inspiring them to pursue careers in public service and education.

WASHINGTON TEACHER PROGRAM: This unique program is the only one of its kind. Teaming with our expert faculty, teachers from schools nationwide discuss "next and best practices" and gain new insights on how to make democracy "come alive" for their students. A hallmark is that teachers interact with educators from Close Up's venerable institutions such as the White House Historical Association, the Library of Congress, the Department of Education, and the Smithsonians.
