Close Up offers challenging, inspirational and fun programs for high school students and teachers. Browse this list to find which out which one is right for you. Using Washington as a living classroom, each program gives students a "close up" experience with government and democracy in action. Students learn firsthand the role that they, as ordinary citizens, play in the U.S. democracy. Teachers who bring students on Close Up qualify to attend our unique teacher program, which parallels the student program. Students may come as part of a school group or on their own; they also may earn 1 credit from University of Virginia for completing our program.
